Testing Technology Platform
Digital capture of test data with automated report generation, SAP integration, and a backend on Microsoft Fabric.
About the Project
A company needed a modern platform for testing technicians to efficiently capture test data, automatically generate test reports and seamlessly integrate with SAP for order and material data.
Technical Implementation
The developed solution consists of several components:
Frontend: A React TypeScript application provides testing technicians with an intuitive interface for data entry – optimized for on-site use at the test object.
Backend: A FastAPI-based backend orchestrates business logic, validates inputs and controls integration with connected systems.
Data Platform
Data Platform: Microsoft Fabric serves as the central data platform. User-Defined Functions (UDF), Fabric SQL Database and Data Lakehouses form the backend for data storage and processing. The architecture enables both transactional operations (data entry) and analytical evaluations.
Document Management
Document Management: SharePoint is used for managing test documents, templates and generated reports.
SAP Integration
SAP Integration: Order and material data are synchronized from SAP to provide testing technicians with relevant context directly in the application.
Reporting
Reporting: Power BI and Microsoft Fabric enable comprehensive evaluations of test results, trends and quality metrics.
Highlights
- End-to-end digitization of the testing process
- Automated report generation based on captured test data
- SAP integration for order and material data
- Microsoft Fabric as scalable data platform
Challenges
Integration of heterogeneous data sources (SAP, SharePoint, local test data). Automated generation of standards-compliant test reports. Performance with large data volumes.
Results
Fully digitized testing process replaces paper/Excel-based capture. Significantly reduced time for report generation. Consistent data quality through validated inputs.
