About the Project
A company with a heterogeneous system landscape faced the challenge of enabling consistent reporting across all systems. Business partner data and user data existed in different systems with different formats and IDs – unified reporting in Power BI and the use of cross-cutting tools was not possible without manual mapping.
The Solution
The developed Master Data Management platform solves this problem through central master data management:
Business Partner Mapping: Assignment of business partner data from various source systems to a unified master entity. Each partner receives a central ID that is used in all reports and tools.
User Mapping: Analogous mapping for users from different systems – enables person-related reporting and permission management across system boundaries.
Hybrid Architecture: The platform connects on-premises SQL Server with Microsoft Fabric in the cloud. Power Apps serves as a user-friendly frontend for master data maintenance by business users. The MDM platform was subsequently integrated into Microsoft Fabric and used there as the basis for reporting and analytics.
Result
The central master data layer forms the foundation for cross-system controlling in Power BI and enables consistent use of various tools.
